Are Mercedes car parts cheap in australia?
I want to get a 1980 mercedes benz 280 and need to know if parts are cheap. also are BMW (early 1990’s) parts cheap? only answer if you really know for sure. thanks.
Depends on the part. Many MB parts are comparable in price to the same sort of part for Ford/Holden etc but others are more expensive. I replaced a radiator with the genuine part a few years ago on my old S-class and the price was only about $40 more than for a Holden, which isn’t all that much on a $500 item. Check the net for generic, new old stock and used part suppliers, there’s one in Canberra who exports round the world.
Like all cars, the cost of parts is not the problem, it’s the labour putting them in.
Don’t know about BMW.

I live next door to Australia, in New Zealand. Our car parts here arrive in the same containers as the ones in Australia. I drive a 1990 Mercedes 300 SE, and I am finding the parts a steal. I used to have a Toyota landcruiser, and its parts were more expensive than the Mercedes parts. In case you’re wondering whether it’s a reasonable thing to be driving an old Merc down here, believe me, yes.
